Minotaur with Hare, English Bay, Vancouver
The day Sophie arrived in Vancouver for her show, she had to repair a vandalised sculpture. This is not a usual occurance here but the night before, there had been an enormous firework display attended by rather a lot of drunken revellers, six of whom decided to climb up the sculpture resulting in its collapse. Sophie had to cut away the galvanised wire to expose the interior armature before carefully welding up the frame again, whilst a crane held the sculpture in a vertical postion. Here Sophie is photographed with staff from Buschlen Mowatt who kindly provided tools, welding gear and a crane with which to repair the sculpture.
