Crawling Lady-Hare in a Garden, 1998

The final stage in completing the Crawling Lady-Hare was to galvainise the sculpture. This not only protects it from the elements but also adds to the overall strength of the piece by fusing the wire together. The process adds up to thirty percent more weight to the sculpture but provides a much greater stability. Scaffolding had to be erected around the structure to support it whilst travelling to the galvanisers in Herefordshire. Crawling Lady-Hare was exhibited in Bath where local residents complained about the 'shocking nakedness' of the sculpture. It was gratifying to see that those same residents then complained three months later about Crawling Lady Hare being removed at the end of the exhibition....more
