Working on Conversation in the annexe studio. The sculpture was first made as a wire piece, then a small maquette and finally this larger version. It took a long time to position the Dog and Lady Hare correctly on the horse, constantly reworking the sculpture and altering the figures . As all moulding is done on site, quite large sculptures can be made in confined spaces, which is just as well, because although Sophie has three studios, one 60 x 60 feet (18metres), she tends to fill them up with so much work that one usually ends up clambering over tools, scaffolding, moulds, sculpture and dogs to gain access....more
