Casting bronze in Sophie's foundry at her studio in Gloucestershire.
Problems with obtaining the quality that Sophie demanded, led to a foundry being set up at her Studio. It involved some of the latest techniques in vacuum casting and enabled the finest detail to be reproduced to Sophie's exacting standards. It was a labour of love for all involved and although it functioned for two years, in the end, it was too much of a diversion. Most of the larger work had to go to to a foundry with a greater capacity anyway. Thankfully, after collaboration with Chris Butler of Castle Fine Arts, a new foundry was started under his control in Stroud. Able to supply the finest of detail on small sculptures whilst having the ability to cast Sophie's largest work at their main foundry in Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant.
